The Directors of ADI

Dr. Harold G. Nelson, President and Co-founding Director. Dr. Nelson is working as a consultant to corporations, governmental agencies and educational institutions in the areas of: Organizational Design Competence, Leadership Development, Social Systems Design and Systems/Design Education. He has worked with organizations, universities and corporations, state and national governmental agencies, as well as foreign governments and the United Nations. He is Past-President of the International Society for Systems Science. He is a member of the Systems Renewal Institute's Learning Resource Council, a member of the Design Research Society and has been a Fellow in the International Systems Institute. He has been a faculty member at the university level and has been a researcher in both disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields. For over 12 years Dr. Nelson was the Director of the Graduate Programs in Whole Systems Design and the Whole Systems Design Institute at Antioch University. Dr. Erik Stolterman, Vice President and Director. Dr. Stolterman is Professor at the School of Informatics, Indiana University, Bloomington.He is the Director of the Human-Computer Interaction Design group and program. He received his Ph.D. in Informatics atUmeå University, Sweden. Prof. Stolterman's research interests is within design philosophy and theory as they relate to the practice of design, especially the skills and design abilities of the designer. As a consequence of this, his work is focused on the education and training of designers. He can be reached at estolter@indiana.edu

Robert L. Sandusky, Executive Director and co founder. Mr. Sandusky is a practicing architect, licensed in California and registered with the NCARB. He has been actively practicing architecture for 30 years since receiving his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He has been a member of the International Systems Institute and International Society for Systems Science. His architectural work has received national awards and has innovated such things as the first designed use of photovoltaics as the sole source of power for dwellings in the United States. He has been the Regional Architect for the Pacific Southwest Region of the USDA Forest Service, San Francisco. He is also a collaborative sculptor and designer with a prominent New Mexico artist and Sculptor. Mr. Sandusky also is a consultant in Advanced Design .

Rob Sandusky received a Bachelor of Arts in Computer and Information Sciences from the University of California at Santa Cruz, in 1988. In June, 2000, he completed his Master of Arts in Industrial Arts at San Francisco State University. Rob spent six years as a Production Manager in the digital pre-press industry, working primarily with publishers and advertising firms. In 1995, Rob opened and continues to run ShockWave Design in San Francisco, focusing on graphic design, consulting and interface development for Computer Based Training applications and web sites. In 1996, he joined InsWeb Corporation, California, and has served as the Vice President of Technology and Creative Director. Since 1996, Rob has served as a Lecturer of Internet Technology in the Design and Industry Department at San Francisco State University.
